Keg Lid with Stainless Ball Lock Post - Silicon Keg Lid Seal
This carbonation lid can greatly decrease carbonation time. There are three different methods commonly used to carbonate beer.
Note: No beer line or air stone is included. You will need to determine the required length of beer line and size of air stone for carbonation.
- The set and forget method (Recommended): Use a chart or tool to set the PSI according to your beer’s temperature and desired CO₂ volume. Over time, CO₂ will naturally carbonate the beer as it reaches equilibrium. This method, though slow (usually a few weeks), allows for maturation and consistent carbonation.
- The shake, rattle, and roll method (Not recommended): Increase the gas pressure, place the keg on its side, and roll it. This aggressively forces CO₂ into the beer but risks overshooting the target carbonation level, possibly imparting a "green" or "carbonic bite" taste.
- The carbonation lid method (Highly recommended): By using this lid with an attached stone, you can achieve rapid carbonation. Adjust the beer temperature and PSI, and the stone will inject tiny CO₂ bubbles directly into the beer, maximizing surface area for fast carbonation. This method can carbonate a five-gallon keg overnight.
